Edge Sealing Systems/Smoke & Draft Control

 

As code requirements have changed in recent years to more accurately reflect the real conditions of a fire, fire-labeling requirements and wood door construction have changed as well. The advent of “S” labels and Category “B” wood doors have generated a need for gaskets to protect from the passage of flame as well as smoke. National Guard Products has expanded their already extensive line of Edge Sealing Systems (ESS) and Smoke Gaskets to accommodate tight tolerances or poor door and frame installation. Along with new product designs, come product advancements. The famous 5050 silicone bulb has been overhauled to compress flatter and stick better for increased performance. The 5050 is a 20 minute Category “G” ESS and 3-hour Category “H” Smoke gasket. New profiles such as the 9450 were designed in answer to the problem of tight clearance between doors and frames. The 9450 is the choice for perimeter application on Category “B” wood doors up to 90 minutes.
